The scale is an age-old method for assessing body weight and measuring changes in our lifestyle. If you've been trying to lose a couple of extra pounds, then a scale could be the easiest method to assess if you're on track.
The trouble is that scales can often be very inaccurate and really don't provide you with enough pertinent details.
For example: Your weight could fluctuate up to 3-5 pounds in one day simply through increased water intention and dietary intake. This is why you will generally weigh less in the morning than in the afternoon.
These changes in weight in one day could lead you to believe that you are not on track to succeed, which can push away your source of motivation.
This is one of the primary reasons why you might want to throw away the scale and instead, adopt the waist-hip ratio.
